21 (who?)

Hello!  Welcome to Art History - Stock & Resources month!

All November, deviants in the community will be posting articles about the history and current state of,  as well as some general information about, Stock & Resources. To get involved with articles, head to the sign up sheet

But you don't just have to write articles!  You can participate by spreading the word, commenting on articles, or maybe hosting an Art History-related contest!  Let us know if you've participated, and we will make sure it's seen by the community.

A Brief Overview of Stock

What does "Stock & Resources" mean? The terms "stock," "stock & resources," "stock and resources," "resources," and "resources and stock images" are typically used interchangeably.  The gallery descriptions make a distinction between "Stock Images" (photographs) and "Resources" (everything else), but people will probably know what you're talking about if you call a digitally-made texture "stock."

When I reveal to people outside of dA that I do stock, I typically tell them it's, "stuff I put on the internet that other people can use in their art."  According to the much better-worded gallery description, the Resources and Stock Images gallery contains, "resources submitted by deviants for others to use in their own works and/or learn from."  There are many subcategories in the gallery including Stock Images (photographs), Textures, Tutorials, and Fonts, each with their own subcategories.  It is a HUGE gallery (the biggest on the site, in fact, with over 300 sub-galleries) that is watched over by two Community Volunteers.

Your Stock CVs are:

(If you are unfamiliar with what CVs do, check out Everyday we're CV'ing by Kaz-D and So you want to be a CV... by Thiefoworld.)

Lanny and I will be contributing articles to AH all month, as well as having some other lovely deviants joining in on the fun!  We are here to answer any questions you may have, and to help you join in too!

Welcome to Art History - Stock and Resources Month! Join in on the fun!

Fantastic!! I am looking forward to this month of excellence!
I LOVE the Resource Gallery. There's so much that can be done in it. I know I've used the stock images for manipulations but also for reference shots for my characters. The tutorials gallery is just made of awesome.
